This current group of volunteers have many hidden talents, but one of the talents that has been more active, and visual, is the artistic skills! Since their arrival, new boards, furniture and areas on base have been designed, made and now enjoyed!
But one of the most exciting additions to the Pez Maya surroundings are a set of supper colorful and very informative wooden boards on and around the Boca Paila bridge. As some of you might already know, the Boca Paila bridge is a very popular place for locals to fish and hand around. In all fairness, it's an absolutely amazing spot where you can see mind-blowing sunrises
(over the Caribbean) and sunsets (over the mangroves and Sian Ka'an lagoons). It's also a great spot for bird observation. Ecologically is a very important spot for Sian Ka'an, as it's one of the largest connecting points between freshwater from the inland lagoons and the Caribbean sea water!Sadly, it's also a spot where the local fishers like to litter on a regular basis, not only making the place look like a tip, but polluting the pristine water and shoreline.
Check out the new signs that our arty Pez Mayans have done to inform any local or visiting tourist of the importance of keeping the place as pristine as possible!
