On the 9th and 11th of March GVI’s Mexican staff: Luli from Punta Gruesa base and Lluvia and Jaen from Pez Maya base, attended a driving boat course in Playa del Carmen, Quintana Roo. These three staff already had a international driving license but they are now obtaining the Mexican one. About 50 people attended the course, which was composed by 94 % males… Luli, Lluvia and Jaen being the only girls there!
The course started by introducing the names of the different parts of a boat and of the lines, as well as the names the line gets depending on how it is tight, some rules, amongst other topics. The second day contained security on the boat, showing all the emergency equipment boats should or can have depending on their dimensions and purposes. A first aid course was also received.
Staff will get their “Libreta de Mar” in a few weeks and hope to upgrade soon to “Patrón marinero”!
