Last weekend was a busy one on for us, with four special guests arriving on base. From our offices in Playa del Carmen
Mo & Sophie paid a visit and got stuck in with duties around base – the extra help is always appreciated, thank you ladies!
As well as welcoming back a regular, Baruch, from our local partners
Amigos de Sian Ka’an we had the pleasure of meeting Fernando Secaira, who is the Director of Operations in Mexico for
The Nature Conservancy.

Originally from Guatemala, Fernando was visiting Mahahual and Xcalak (a little town further south) to interview local fishermen, businesses and politicians about their thoughts and ideas on conserving the local environment. Fernando had never been to Punta Gruesa before, so decided he should pay us a visit at the same time. When not out and about chatting to the locals Fernando got to see what base life is like and exchanged experiences with volunteers. He also managed to fit in a dive before leaving – his first in eight years!
A good weekend for everyone with old friends and new, gracias a todos
