From the 28th of August to the 4th of September the Municipality of Solidaridad in Playa del Carmen, organized an Electronics Recycling Campaign. The purpose was to collect batteries and electronic devices that can not be reused and when disposed in an uncontrolled manner, pollute the soil and underwater rivers severely.

As a closing event for this Campaign, a small ceremony was organized, in which Environmental authorities from Quintana Roo congratulated and talked about the importance of this type of initiatives, involving the community of Cozumel, Tulum and Solidaridad. The opportunity was taken also to recognize the work of several Recycling companies and organizations committed to waste separation and management, such as Publimedia, Maremex and Global Vision International.

GVI Mexico has been fully committed to managing the waste produced at our Mexican expeditions in the most environmentally friendly possible way, since the beginning of our time here. On top of every day actions such as reduction of wasteful products, the expedition separate their rubbish and dispose it accordingly.
GVI Tulum, alongside our partners, created the first community managed recycling centre in Tulum. This centre is now used to collect recyclable items from the community and schools, and acts as the centre for many environmental and recyclable workshops.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank all the people involve in the creation and maintenance of the Recylcing centre en Tulum.
