Mahahual visit to Pez Maya
Monday 8th September, six expedition members and three of the staff from Pez Maya came to visit Punta Gruesa base in Mahahual. After a base orientation the expedition members settled in to their new huts and got to know the expedition members and staff of Punta Gruesa. The next few days were packed full of diving with the Pez Maya expedition members helping out by monitoring some of the sites. Some lucky expedition members even got to snorkel with dolphins that came up to play before a dive.
After a fun packed few days, the Pez Mayan members headed back to their base on the Thursday with four of the Mahahual expedition members and three staff. As they arrived to the base they were greeted by wind and waves, which was a change to the bay at Mahahual which is sheltered by the reef. After a base orientation the Mahahual members got to enjoy a bit of body boarding and then a walk around the Sian Ka’an Biosphere reserve.
Unfortunately due to the weather diving in Pez Maya did not go ahead but the expedition members got to enjoy diving in the near cenote Dos Ojos along with the Pez mayan expedition members. After a fun filled day the expedition members returned to help out with jobs at the base.
Everyone at Punta Gruesa enjoyed the exchange and would like to extend their gratitude to everyone at Pez Maya for a great few days.
