Playing with Amigos de Sian ka'an in Pez Maya!

After 7 years of successful partnership with Amigos de Sian Ka’an (ASK) it finally happened! The so expected event!! the day when all ASK and GVI staff met….was a success!! Around 20 people from the three offices from ASK paid us a visit in Pez maya on Monday.

Punta Gruesa staff arrived on Sunday night to help preparing everything for ASK arrival and to enjoy life on base. ASK arrived around midday and had a tour around base which they seemed to really enjoy as they had a lot of questions and wanted to know more about base and how volunteers live!

The weather was not great but it respected us as it rained only at the very beginning and at the end which allowed us to play the traditional Pez Mayaolympics on the beach which we all enjoyed like kids! We were also lucky enough to have Danny, our Regional Director and Gonzalo, ASK Executive Director to talk more about the partnership, how it all started and how useful the data gathered throughout the years has been as well as the importance of our presence to preserve it as it is.

All in all it was great playing and knowing more from each other and we are looking forward to more days like it! Rumour says it now will be in Punta Gruesa (our southern base)!!
