Wait...let me explain what I mean by this title with a nice allegory! Let's say the Meso-American Barrier Reef is like a patient waiting in line at the clinic. The nurse is going first to take his temperature and pulse rate before sending for the doctor, is a bit like us monitoring both fish and coral on the reef. Similarly, our goal is to accurately evaluate the health of the reef. Once the doctor receives the results, he's going to declare his diagnostic, just as Los Amigos de S'ian K'aan and CONANP present our monitoring research on the health of the reef. These two conservation organisations receive our data, analyse it and decide whether we should adopt new environmental measures the same as the doctor prescribing medicine! That is why our job is important and has to be done properly! Simply because if we don't send the right information, the diagnostic will be biased and the medicine inappropriate.
