What have the new volunteers been doing during these first weeks?

For all those that have been wondering what the new volunteers have been up to for these first weeks in their new homes, we can assure you they haven’t been lying on the beautiful beach all day long! It has been two very intense weeks as they have been learning their new chores, studying and passing their corals and fish exams, adapting to the heat and getting to know their new room mates for the next 5 or 10 weeks!

In Pez Maya some of them are by now Open Water and Advance divers!! Congratulations!!! They have also been exercising their muscles doing the fun boat pushes and discovering the great underwater world of Sian Ka’an Reserve. In Punta Gruesa the experienced divers have discovered the wonderful underwater world of the Mexican Caribbean, some of them are finishing their Advance course and have started to present their juvenile fish and algae exams as well as doing some spot dives in order to present their under water exams soon!

Next week they will start doing some community work and learning more and more scientific and diving skills. Looking forward to it!!
