New toys for the PG Dive Shop!!!!
In the past, GVI has worked in the community alongside individuals and organisations with the common goal of bringing envionmental awareness and planning activities to benefit the inabitants of this once sleepy town. The Mahahualeñas is just one of these groups. In December, they donated 18 masks, 18 pairs of fins and snorkels to promote snorkeling amongst the secondary students, and asked GVI to run the programme.
This time around, Marilyn Marshall, leader of Las Mahahualeñas, and her husband, Bruce, gave presents to expand our diving kit for the expedition. Weightbelts, gauges, regulators, masks, wetsuits and snorkels were handed to us, staff and volunteers, so there is plenty to go around for diving.
On a non diving related subject, they also donated three boxes full of books in English to give to the Primary school for children to use and for us to have more resources for our TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) programme. Everything has already been put to good use. We look forward to working again with the Mahahualeñas in the near future, and wanted to publically thank Bruce and Marilyn Marshall for their kind donations.
