Marine turtle nesting season starts!
The marine turtle nesting season has started and the Turtle Festival committee has also started to organize the 9th edition of it!
This year we will have many exciting activities previously to the Festival like an awareness campaign to Municipal authorities, hotel owners and tourists from Tulum in order to convey the message of the importance of its conservation and rules to follow during the nesting season, which goes from the beginning of May to the end of October.
The Festival will be held from the 13th to the 16th of October 2011. It is very nice to see how year after year the organizations participating grow this year representatives from The Casa de la Cultura de Tulum, Parque Xcaret y Grupo Flora Fauna y Cultura de México, Centro Ecológico Akumal, Talleres Cero, Santuario de la Tortuga Marina, Universidad de Quintana Roo, Centro Ecológico Sian Ka’an (Cesiak), Global Vision International, Parque Xel-Ha, Fundación Orígenes de Quintana Roo, Tulum Travel Guide, Dirección de Desarrollo Urbano y Ecología del Estado de Quintana Roo, Dirección General de Desarrollo Urbano y Ecología de Tulum, CONANP, Fundación Ecobahía, Amigos de Sian-Ka’an, Green Expo, Save the Children, Canal 30, Contraloría Ciudadana & Asociación de Hoteles de Tulum have started to plan, organize, discuss and get sponsors to ensure that the event will be a success as it is year after year!
