A mixed bag of emotions for the last week in Pez maya!
This weekend was very eventful as four volunteers took part in an event for Save the Children helping to promote Amigos de Sian Ka'an by playing Turtle themed games with the children at the event and handing out posters of the animals that inhabit the reserve. Most volunteers also took part in a BULL SHARK DIVE! This was a surprisingly relaxing experience for most participants (apart from Carla, who's hair was constantly being nibbled on by a ridiculous number of sharksuckers!)...
During the week there was bad weather at base however spirits were still high and there was a fair few Manatee hunts and big Barracuda encounters! The Rescue divers all passed with flying colours and enjoyed their dramatic rescue scenarios.
Everyone was really upset to be leaving base on Friday, but to cheer everyone up a bit there was of course a night out planned in Playa (cue drunken crying)! Some people moved on to travel
round the world, some returned home to their studies and jobs...It has been an amazing ten
weeks and we have loved every single minute!
