My first two weeks here in Playa Del Carmen, on the Community
Devolpment Internship have been nothing but amazing, from the
historical ruins in Coba to the aqua blue beaches of Playa Del Carmen
and Cozumel in my spare time.
I
am now into my second week of my internship and I have already
experienced some wonderful things. I have now started attending the
Ludoteca of an afternoon, I had never worked with children before
coming to Mexico so I wasn't sure what to expect. The children at the
Ludoteca are very warm and welcoming, they really enjoy involving you
in all their activities and games and with the help of the ladies
from Save The Children I really look forward to what each day brings
at the Ludoteca and hope the next 6 months go slowly.
Myself
and two fellow volunteers have attended the local cat rescue clinic, Coco's cat rescue, to have a look at how the GVI Veterinary Project will be running, we
stayed for a couple of hours playing and cuddling the kittens and
puppies that need to be socialized in order to be ready for adoption,
we hope to start going to the clinic a few days a week to help them
with the speying and neutering programs they run within the
community.
As
I am an intern and here for 6 months I will get to experience the
other projects GVI have running here in Playa Del Carmen so hopefully
I will get to return to the rescue clinic at some stage to see the
puppies and kittens as well as the many other amazing projects here.
