Organic sponges in Pez Maya!
As the previous blog entry says every week volunteers in the Mexican marine expeditions clean up the beach and record the data. In every clean up we find sponges washed up in the shore dead. They get disintegrated and with time, in the normal cycle of life, are reincorporated to the sea. As we try to be the most environmentally friendly as possible on base we have started to dry and use the washed up sponges to wash the dishes to avoid using artificial sponges that create more garbage once they are used! Thanks for this initiative to our new staff member Shannon!
Here is a photo on how our sink looks with our natural organic sponges!! They work as well as the artificial ones!
