As you all probably know there is an outbreak of Influenza in Mexico and in the World. Firstly named swine flu and now human flu or Influenza A it is a worldwide health concern. For GVI, our participants’ health and safety is a major priority, therefore we are continuously monitoring the situation and exercising the precautions issued by the local and international authorities. In country we are following the official advice of the local authorities as well as international organisations/bodies such as the UK Foreign and Commonwealth Office (FCO), the US Government Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the World Health Organisation (WHO) and the Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
We would like to take this opportunity to reassure you that all current volunteers and staff are very well and enjoying their time in Pez Maya and Punta Gruesa! They are finishing their advance dive courses and starting to learn the monitoring methodologies so hopefully soon they will start monitoring the reef!! We sincerely hope that the health situation improves in the near future in Mexico and in the world.
