Books and clothes donation
As published in this blog last year, many volunteers leave behind clothes and books that are not going to be of use in their trips or back home when they finish the Marine Expeditions. These items, unuseful for some are very helpful for others, especially for people of very low resources in the State.
For this reason, once again, we have donated about 150 books and 3 bags of clothes that were left by our volunteers to the local NGO “Gente por la gente”, which will take it to a new school that is being built in the very low income suburbs of Cancun called “Desarrollo Nuevo México”. Although Cancun is more known for its tourist attraction the surrounding neighbors have the typical problems of a problematic city and are very much in need. GVI Marine Expeditions volunteers can feel proud for indirectly contributing with the people and organizations that are working in it.
For sure, as long as volunteers continue leaving behind this type of items we will continue providing it to the people in need. Thanks to “Gente por la Gente” for canalizing it.
