Hurricane Rina heading Quintana Roo
Hola!
Just an update on Hurricane Rina which is heading our way. We have been closely following the official national and international news and indications since the beginning. Quintana Roo state has a very high hurricane culture and is well prepare when hurricanes hit. Rina is likely hit the North of the state tomorrow Thursday. However, anything can happen as it is moving slowly. At the moment it is cathegory 2. The volunteers and staff from both Marine conservation bases have been evacuated for safety reasons and the interns in the dive shops are following their owen safety protocols too. Punta Gruesa volunteers are staying in a hotel in Mahahual and volunteers from Pez Maya will be staying in two hotels in Tulum. They all have enough water, food and communication channels.
