The school year got to an end and with it came the party! The sixth grade students celebrated the ending of their primary school studies with a great ceremony that included some dances, diplomas and food. Despite the rain, the children showed their talent dancing to different rhythms including merengue, Hawaiian, salsa, slow dance and a typical dance called “Los viejitos” (The little old men/women) where they got to use old men masks. As well, the children with best grades were given diplomas.
Lluvia, Expedition manager in Pez Maya, was invited to join the “mesa de honor” (table of honour) as she has been working with these children for a long time. It was great to see all the enthusiasm that they put into the event. At the end they thanked Pez Maya for all the support and all the activities that we do in Punta Allen, also for the mural that we painted for the ceremony. To finish the night, we had a really nice dinner. Congratulations Ronnie, Lirio, Daleth, Angel, Iván, Naty, Pamela, Aracely, Areli, Gilmer, Cruz and Jazmin, we wish you good luck in secondary school!
