A week full of activities! Data collected, PADI rescue divers, lion fish hunting and Punta Allen English classes

After some epic thunderstorms over the weekend, the sun was beaming down on us reading for another week of diving! During this great last week of diving data was collected, certification were completed, and fun was had by all! Team Rescue successfully completed their “HELL DIVE” and, despite the best efforts of hopeless divers “Baz and Chaz”, Ben and Esther, Matt, Marti, Sophie and Jomar are now PADI Rescue divers.

On his last day of diving at Pez Maya, Jim did his best pirate impression and speargunned 2 lionfish that were sadly made inedible due to sun overexposure. Everyone will miss the “Dread Pirate” and hopes that he finds another fine vessel to board somewhere else on the seven seas.

Aaron, Eric and Maria traveled to Punta Allen to teach English to the local schools. They were happily received and everyone left either richer in mind or belly as the children were educated and our lucky volunteer teachers received a plate full of delicious, home-cooked empanadas for their efforts.

All but 4 volunteers are now at the end of their great adventure here at Pez Maya, heading off to the other corners of the planet, leaving Eric, Aaron, Maria and Jessie to usher in the new group of volunteers to paradise. Good luck to Jonas and Marti who will be training to become PADI Divemasters in Xcalak, and we hope that everyone makes off to their next adventure safely, ESPECIALLY YOU STEPHEN!!!!
