We would like to congratulate Laura Mears, Pez Maya Expedition Manager, and Daniel Ponce-Taylor, GVI Mexico Director, on their recent certification; Emergency First Response (EFR) Instructor Trainers. This qualification will allow Laura and Daniel to certify up to EFR Instructor level, providing EMs and staff with the possibility of obtaining this certification in Mexico.
Emergency First Response courses follow current emergency patient care standards as published in the American Heart Association Guidelines 2005 for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care and the Basic Life Support (BLS) group of the International Liaison Committee on Resuscitation (ILCOR). During the Primary care and Secondary care course, students get to master these skills with the guidance of a skilled Emergency First Response Instructor, giving the confidence to provide care in an emergency situation.
For those who enjoy teaching, they can build on what's learned in the Emergency First Response Primary Care, Secondary Care and Care for Children courses by becoming an Emergency First Response Instructor. As an Emergency First Response Instructor, you'll find many opportunities to teach CPR and first aid in the workplace and to lay people in your community.
Again, congratulations to Laura and Daniel!
