Week 6 has seen lots of study with more and more people passing their fish
or coral exams by the day. Several people have also spent the week on practice
monitor dives and everyone is now getting quite excited about getting to do
their first real monitoring dive. Well done everyone for all the hard work!
This week has also seen the start of the PADI Rescue Diver course with the
newly nicknamed Jockstrap, Old boy, Mr Galaxy and Achilles forming Team Hero
under the close guidance and instruction of the Dread Pirate No Beard and Party
Mart, both being assisted hansomely by the Boyo Wonder. All four are finding
that although it is both a mentally and physically challenging, it is such a
great and rewarding course.
Base itself is currently going through a few asthetic changes with
construction continuing on the compressor roof as well as new plans to paint
the volunteer huts. Volunteers have been getting on with sanding the huts in
preparation as well as a general tidying of the grounds making our Caribbean
retreat even more pleasant to live in.
We've also had a few rare and welcomed aquatic visitors on our trips into
the sea with people spotting Turtles, Nurse sharks and much more. Even a
Hammerhead popped in to see the PADI Open Water students doing their underwater
skills!
Until the next time, Neil, Freja and Thalie.

Rescue course, incidental sightings and more on week 6 in Pez maya!
