X-mas arrived early to Mexico!
After 10 weeks of fun, good times and a lot of hard work, the GVI Mexico team got together to celebrate X-mas and New year; and of course to thank all the staff for the enthusiasm and dedication that they put into the expeditions to accomplish a very successful year.
To break up with the routine of diving, this year we decided to do something different. The Yucatan peninsula is a unique place where underground rivers are all around. So we visited a cave system called Río Secreto where we had the opportunity to go through a beautiful cave.
We admired all the limestone formations, stalactites, stalagmites, and we swam in the underground river where lots of cold water made us to shiver a little bit. The place was incredible, and the tour was even more as we had to wear helmets with lights and wetsuits as it was a dry and wet adventure. At some point everybody turned off their lights and we could hear nothing at all! Nor even see anything! It was an amazing experience.
In the evening we had a X-mas dinner at a Mayan restaurant where we could taste the typical Mayan dishes but with a gourmet style. It was delicious! What a great way to finish the year!
Thanks to all the staff for all their work and we look forward for next year’s adventure.
