Shark!

After 2 perfect weeks of sunny skies and hot weather, we were fairly grateful for rain this week to cool off and collect extra rain water for showers. Our dive schedules were interrupted by thunder and lightening on Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday but we still managed to get in a few dives each day after the storms had passed. On Tuesday the strong current caused the boats  to come unachored. The volunteers and staff showed tremendous team work as they ran shoulder deep into the ocean during the storm to push the boats back up onto shore. After drying off the volunteers relaxed while watching a beautiful documentary, Human Planet.

Following the strom on Tuesday the ocean was beautifully calm. Along the flat surface of the water one of the staff spotted a shark fin in the distance! Everyone fled to the shore to get a look at our first shark sighting of the phase! The shark later surfaced less than 10 meters from the volunteers and staff while walking the boats out to be reanchored. It was very exciting! The shark was identified as a 1.8 meter Bull Shark.
