Code Red in Punta Gruesa

Life on base is in a hardcore way of living. Indeed, this week we found five “seriously injured” members of the staff scattered around base. One nearly drowned, another got electrocuted, one had fallen from the second floor, another was shouting to death because of her arterial bleeding while the last one fell on the slippery floor. The last member of staff standing alerted us to the situation with her hysterical scream. We realized later that she was “in shock”. Fortunately, we all practiced our Emergency First Responder 2 days before so we succeeded to save all of them! It was tempting at first to laugh at the fake situation but we quickly realized that this was an actual simulation to which we were expected to respond in a serious manner. While some were calling EMS, one was giving “CPR” or bandaging. A lot of fun with a real dose of adrenaline made us realized that Emergency First Responder training could be really useful!
