Dolphin encounter!

Tuesday at PG the wind had dropped a little, the waterway was passable for the boats and we went out for the first dive of the week.

“DOLPHINS!” The word flew straight to the ears of the eager divers aboard Huul Kin and Kalam Ha. As the captains kept their eyes on the pod, we suited up for a prompt pre-dive snorkel with 15-20 of the curious sea creatures. In the water, they darted around and encircled us, coming within an arm’s reach…not something that is experienced on your average day.

Not to mention, a very anticipated incidental sighting to add to the log book. Back in the boat, you could smell the euphoria in the air as we donned our SCUBA gear to explore the aquatic world below.

What a compensation for not being able to dive for two days! Thanks a lot!

With the drop in the wind later in the week we had calm seas that have been wonderful for diving, but quite a number of mosquitoes in return. They are annoying, but the “bastard flies” are a pain! Currently, the best remedy for them is to yell just that, “Bastard!” when you are the unlucky victim of their bite. Fortunately, we are living on a white sand beach on the Mexican Riviera and that is quite a pleasant distraction from the itch.
