GVI Mexico present at the RCUK meeting in London

On December the 5th, the RCUK annual meeting was held in at the Zoological Society of London and GVI Mexico presented two posters with data collected in the Marine Expeditions in the Mexican Caribbean.

The Reef conservation UK (RCUK) was formed to promote multidisciplinary conservation, public awareness and education about coral reefs, as well as to ensure that all reef related activities are conducted in a responsible manner.

The participants of this meeting are students, researchers and professionals that are working with coral reef around the world. The intention is to raise awareness of an indivual’s or organisation’s work and interests to the wider UK coral reef concerned.

Daniel Ponce-Taylor (Regional Director) and Monique Mancilla (ex Programme Manager at both Pez Maya and Pta Gruesa) attended the meeting where he presented the posters and had the opportunity to learn about the results that other research programmes are getting.

The poster titles were:

Occurrence, Diet and Management of the Invasive Lionfish Pterios spp. in the Sian Ka’an Biosphere Reserve, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Check the link on the left hand side of this page (Downloadable GVI reports and documents).

Effects of Hurricane Dean on Punta Gruesa Coral Reefs, Quintana Roo, Mexico. Check the link on the left hand side of this page (Downloadable GVI reports and documents).

All the data used for this posters was collected thanks to the hard work the volunteers do when they come to the expeditions, so we want to thank all of them.
