Week 3 in Pez maya- shark sightings, community project starts and lots of fun!

As for the rest of the week on base, it’s all been fairly normal, with no hurricanes to report! We have had some great shark sightings in the mornings, which is pretty exciting. Two have been spotted swimming in the lagoon, right in front of base at around 6am every day. This has further explained our no diving before 6.30am rule!

Finally we have started with our community project work. There are two projects we’re involved in, one is helping with an Organic Farm and the other is working with local school children and teaching them English, slightly tricky job for those of us who don’t speak Spanish… However the Organic Farm is manual labour so pretty straight forward. GVI are trying to help the farms set themselves up so they’re able to make their products in large quantities and sell them in places like Cancun.

Well that’s all from Pez Maya this week. Here’s hoping we have another great one for week 4

See ya! Caz and Katie
