Punta Gruesa to the rescue!

Although week 4 held little diving due to several days of thunder and lightening storms followed by several days of high force winds, there was still a lot of excitement on base as the interns and some of the keen 10 weekers began work on the PADI Rescue Diver course. The lack of diving gave us all a chance to complete the theory, knowledge reviews and watch the ever enthralling PADI training DVD, leaving everyone excited and eager for the training sessions ahead!

To wave off the storm and to celebrate the 5 weekers last weekend with the camp we took a trip to Casitas for dinner and a night out. Non vegetarians enjoyed filling their bellies with some much craved meat while others simply enjoyed the change of environment and everyone enjoyed the company (of course!).

Week 5 got under way today with the first two waves of the day returning beaming ear to ear after a few fantastic dives in the crystal clear waters the storm has left behind, a Spotted Eagle Ray and a large Southern Ray have already been spotted and there’s still two dives to go! Kylie and Brian, Dasha and Nils have been embarking on their first supervised monitors today gearing them up to go solo over the next few days on their last week on base! Hopefully the rest of us will follow suit shortly.
