Lets recycle!!!

On Monday 17th May we celebrated the Recycling International Day. What a better excuse to remember the 3 R’s!

• Reduce
• Recycle
• Reuse

Surely everybody knows or has heard about them. Some people even add a 4th one, which stands for Reject or rejection of pollutant products use. Anyway, the important thing is to follow these principles in order to reduce our waste production and thus our Ecological footprint.

There are many ways to do it; one of them is avoiding the use of plastic bags or plastic bottles. However, as sometimes it is difficult you can reuse them until they are very old and then you can take them to a recycling place where they will be transformed into something else! Easy!

Here in Mexico various activities were organized in relation to the Recycling International day like talks, workshops and video projections. It is so nice to see how every day more and more people sum up to the recycling culture!! We know there is still a long way to go and that is why we contribute and spread the word every time we can!

Also we are looking into using bags made of fabric when we go to the super market and Pez Maya expedition has launched Punta Allen green initiative in order to promote the recycling culture in this fishing town. Punta Gruesa expedition is also launching a water filter project together with sustenta.com which intends to exchange collected garbage from Mahahual beach for water filters in order to avoid the use of plastic bottles in houses!! They are also helping in a local project to build a house out of plastic bottles!
