The end of borrowed time… by Chris Lawrence

I guess I originally came to Mexico to spend some time figuring out what I wanted to do with my career. I ditched a good job in publishing as I knew there were bigger and better things out there to do with my life. I thought a nice, chilled out 5 week ‘vacation’ whilst helping save the Earth would give me time to consider my options and also help feed the body and soul a bit.

In reality I haven’t had time to contemplate much as there’s always something to do on base! The good thing is that it’s usually diving or something else fun, but even if its working hard in the kitchen or burning the used toilet paper, it’s always in great company.

Sadly though, the time to leave is upon me. As a five weeker now into his 6th week, I’ve really got to go this time! If I could stay another week or better yet another month, I would. It should speak volumes about how good a time I’ve had here.

I will take much back with me to Cambridge, some amazing memories, some brilliant new friends and an increased tolerance (but not quite acceptance) of vegetarian food, flies, bucket flush toilets and the three beer rule!
