Environmental education activities at Colegio Alexandre, Cancun

Last week saw the start of a new initiative lead by our partners Amigos de Sian Ka'an. The idea is to engage local schools, both private and public,  in a series of talks and round tables discussing topics such as climate change, coral reefs and related ecosystems, sustainable development and many other that are key to the education and development of the future generation of this area of Mexico.

GVI Mexico Country Director, Daniel Ponce-Taylor, joined this initiative and gave Colegio Alenxandre's 2ary school kids a talk on the importance and threats of coral reefs, but more importantly on what they can do, as local inhabitants and future businesmen/women and leaders of this region.
As always, the originality and honesty of some of the questions and comments that the students made, were the highlight of the event.
We look forward to taking part in future events for this initiative and wish Amigos all the luck in it.
