Reef Cleaning towards the Clean Beach Certification of Tulum

As part of the many activities that Fundación Origenes de Quintana Roo is promoting in Tulum in order to get the International Certification as a Clean Beach, a reef and beach cleaning was organized today in Playa Maya.

Three boats took 5 GVI divers from Pez Maya and some snorkelers alongside 30 kilometers of the coral reef barrier. In despite of their efforts for finding any garbage down there it was good to see that it was clean as they didn't find anything but a bottle of beer. On the contary alongside the beach a lot of plastic bottles and bags were collected.

More reef and beach cleaning will continue to be organized, specially if requested by local people as happened this time.
